Sportspeople Community is a community app run by Digital Sports, Zürich, Switzerland ("we"). It helps members of the Sportspeople in Zürich community post sports activities, join each other and chat. This page explains what data the app stores and why.
What we store
- Account: you sign in with Apple, Google or an email code. We store the identifier and email address provided by Apple or Google, or the email you verify. We never see your Apple or Google password.
- Profile: the display name you choose, the sports you follow, and when you last opened the app (shown as "active" to other members).
- Activities and RSVPs: activities you post or join, including time, place and options you select, and attendance confirmations.
- Chat messages: messages you send in community, sport, activity and direct chats. Admins can delete messages and restrict chat access to keep the community safe.
- Push notifications: if you allow notifications, a device push token so we can send reminders and updates. You can turn this off in your phone's settings.
- Photos: the profile picture, post pictures and challenge photos you choose to upload. They are stored on our server and shown to members only (listing photos on a board visible to visitors are shown to visitors too).
- Places you follow: which places you follow. Other members see only how many people follow a place, never who.
- Home place: if you choose one, the place you usually go to. It is used only to work out distances to other places for you. Nobody else can read it — not other members and not the admins. The app never reads your device's location.
- Place pages: if you are allowed to write a place's page, we record who changed it last and when.
- Market: if your community has one, your listings (text, price, photos and the details you fill in) and how many members viewed them. Members see a listing with your name. The community's admins can make a board visible to visitors without an account; on such a board visitors see the listing — text, price, details, town and photos — but never your name or picture, and they must join to contact you. If you share your own listing, the text you send and its link go wherever you send them.
- Sales: on a board that records them, when you mark a listing as sold: what it went for, when, and the member who bought it with their confirmation. Only you, that buyer and the admins see the price and the buyer. On boards that use a product catalogue, confirmed prices also go into a monthly summary per product — only three or more sales by three different sellers at a time, with no names, listings or dates — kept for 12 months; visitors never see it.
- Saved searches: what you ask the market to watch for, so we can notify you of a matching listing. Only you see them.
- Collections: if your community keeps them (for example your gear), the items you add, since when, what they cost, notes and photos. The community decides whether other members see your collection by default; you can hide all of it or a single item. What you paid and your notes are only yours; visitors never see a collection.
- What you add to a catalogue: a brand, model, size or spec you add or correct. A catalogue can be shared with other communities, so what you add can be shown there once checked; we record that it came from you only to limit additions and show you your own, and nobody sees your name on it.
- Where you are based: the town you type into your profile, if you want to. It is free text; the app never reads your device's location.
- Games, challenges and points: your answers in trivia duels and icebreakers, the challenge entries you log, and the points and badges you earn. In Edit profile you can block game invitations or play anonymously.
- Crash reports: if the app crashes, a technical report (device model, system and app version, and what went wrong) goes to Sentry, our error-monitoring service (hosted in the EU), so we can fix it. It contains no messages or photos.
What we don't do
We do not sell or share your data with advertisers, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not use analytics trackers.
Where the data lives
Data is stored on our own server in Switzerland. Emails with sign-in codes are sent through Resend (EU region). Cloudflare delivers the web app and protects the server. Push notifications are delivered through Expo's push service and Apple/Google.
The map in the browser is drawn from OpenStreetMap map images served by OpenFreeMap (tiles.openfreemap.org). When a map opens, your browser loads those images from OpenFreeMap directly, so OpenFreeMap sees your device's IP address and which part of the map is shown — like any website you visit. We send it nothing else: not who you are, not your home place, not the places you follow. Directions and Open in Maps open a place's position in Apple Maps or Google Maps, only when you tap them, under that service's own privacy terms.
Your choices
You can change your name, picture, sports, where you are based, your home place and the places you follow at any time, leave activities, and sign out. To delete your account and all associated data, open Menu → Account → Delete my account in the app; it is removed immediately. You can also email us and we will remove it within 30 days. Details, including how the monthly price summary lets go of your sales: Delete your account.
